The latest issue is a grand panoply of literature in which history, memory and real life reverberate against each other and sing to each other new songs – by authors from Palestine, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq and Libya. A feature on leading Iraqi playwright and director Jawad al-Assadi includes his play Baghdadi Bathhouse, and the Guest Literature section from the Berlin Festival on “The Future of Cities” features Roddy Doyle, Rawi Hage, Perihan Mağden and Boualem Sansal.
Banipal magazine is the ever-open window on today’s Arab literary scene. Since 1998, its three issues a year have brought Arab writers into the global arena through English translations of a wealth of fiction, poetry and interviews by established and emerging Arab authors and poets, most for the first time. Each issue also contains book reviews and often features Guest Literature from a non-Arab country.
Digital Banipal includes access to six years of free back issues and is available for individuals and institutions all over the world.
Please note that at the moment subscribers to the digital edition do not also receive the print edition and vice versa.
