What do Sir Bob Geldof and a book fair have in common? Well more than you think. Sir Bob has the enviable skill of bringing together disparate elements under one roof, united in the same cause and creating a synergy of art and commerce – much like the ABA who are responsible for the line-up for the June Book Fair which is celebrating its centenary year. One hundred and thirty of the world’s top booksellers are taking part, offering everything from illuminated manuscripts, early printed books, modern first editions to maps, atlases, prints, letters, autographs and vintage photographs. It is the largest and most prestigious event of its kind in Europe and the oldest established book fair in the world. To commemorate this bumper year, Sir Bob is joined as co-Patron by Jerry Hall. “How fitting that the Antiquarian Book Fair should have such an attractive, witty and articulate figurehead this year, the centenary year for the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association,” Adrian Harrington, Chairman of the ABA Fair, says. “Miss Hall is especially interested in modern and contemporary art so we shall be emphasising limited edition art books illustrated by world renowned artists. She is also interested in antiquarian books on exotic flowers.
