A hue of blue

All set for breakfast, this elegant, traditional styled kitchen is a welcoming sight to homeowner Anne Jackson. The neat layout of a central island, dresser, appliances and storage spaces in this kitchen belonging to a twobedroom bungalow, means there is ample room for the taking of tea, cooking and entertaining.

Anne, who inherited this West Midlands-based property from her mother, made the decision to start afresh by completely refurbishing the interior. The garage has been converted and an extension added to the back of the property to house this beautiful bespoke kitchen, designed by Stephanie Dedes and Sarah Turner of handcrafted bespoke furniture design company, Charles Yorke.

Anne’s love of a soft blue palette and maple wood, expressed in her meetings with the designers, have led to a fresh-faced, natural looking kitchen that suits its allocated space. Stephanie and Sarah took inspiration from the blue furniture and the size and shape of the room to create Anne’s perfect kitchen.

“The kitchen is made up of bespoke furniture based on Charles Yorke’s Kelham range, which combines painted and timber elements. The kitchen features units in white regent, shell blue and maple. The worktop is from Silestone and is called Stella Snow,” says Stephanie.

The layout of this kitchen was determined primarily by the available space and existing features, such as a tumble dryer and washing machine, which dictated where most of the other furniture would be located. As well as providing useful storage capacity, a bespoke dresser discretely hides Anne’s laundry appliances, while the island acts as a central point that links the surrounding furniture together...
