Applications are invited for the post of chaplain to join the existing chaplaincy team, and to work both at the University Hospital of Hartlepool and at the Hospice. The chaplain will work closely with colleagues to help meet the spiritual and pastoral needs of patients, staff and visitors by regularly visiting wards and departments, leading chapel services, and offering prayer, counsel and sacramental care as required. The successful candidate will therefore need to be able to demonstrate commitment to the needs of the vulnerable, the sick and the dying, as well as to their carers and families.
The post is open to ordained ministers in member churches of the Free Churches Group of Churches Together, the Anglican or Roman Catholic churches, to church leaders, and to lay people who can demonstrate appropriate theological training, pastoral experience and accreditation from their denomination. The person appointed will also be required to participate in the emergency out of hours rota for which the appropriate additional allowance is payable.
