he human race has a tendency to stumble headlong into catastrophe, yet somehow we always seem to pull through. Is the threat of global warming really any worse than the rise of global fascism in the 1930s, or the Cold War stand-off of the 1960s? We think it is, because this time the damage has already been done. It’s now generally accepted that the earth is warming rapidly, yet we’re still using energy like there’s no tomorrow, which, of course, there might not be. Forget the Government’s feeble sometime-maybe targets and limp requests for ideas from the public - we need to cut our personal contribution to CO2 emissions by half, and by half again, and we needed to do it a decade ago, but anything is better than nothing. Home insulation and recycling, are very much flavour of the month but we’ve got a much more powerful transport message. Change the way you get around, and halving your CO2 is easy.
