New Emigration Policy
Many policies available in the marketplace today cease cover on arrival in their final country of destination (or very shortly thereafter) – which leaves those who are emigrating uninsured (especially for Medical Costs) until they can arrange for cover within their new country. In conjunction with our underwriters, Europ-Assistance, Downunder has now designed and launched a new specialist Emigration Policy for Australia and New Zealand. This policy not only offers clients cover on their travel to their final country of destination but what is new and exciting is that this policy provides cover INSIDE their new country of emigration for a period of up to 3 months. Medical (with cover for costs ceasing 15 days after period): £10,000,000 Personal Belongings and Baggage: £1,500 Personal Liability: £2,000,000 Legal Protection: £25,000 Personal Accident: Death: £10,000 Loss of limb/Loss of sight: £30,000

Meet our writers
Roy Stevenson A freelance travel writer based in Seattle, Washington, Roy Stevenson has written for various newspapers and travel magazines. A New Zealander by birth, Roy enjoys returning to New Zealand where he spent the first half of his life, and seeing how much the country has changed. He has explored New Zealand from top to bottom, and been to many places that you have heard of, and lots that you haven’t. This month, Roy writes about the beautiful South Island resort town of Queensland (p20).
David Whitley A regular contributor and full-time travel writer, David has lived in Australia for five years and contributes to many of the Australian newspapers, including Sydney’s SunHerald and various travel websites. This month, David spends time exploring the magical Kakadu National Park in Australia’s Northern Territory (p30), where he discovers an awe-inspiring landscape filled with all kinds of fascinating wildlife, beautiful waterfalls and some fascinating ancient Aboriginal rock art.
Damian Hall Travel writer Damian used to edit TNT Magazine, a publication for backpackers Down Under, and was wellplaced to write our feature about travelling to Australia on a budget (p52). Damian would be the first to admit that travelling to Australia from the UK doesn’t come cheap with the weak pound and strong Aussie dollar. There are, however, plenty of money-saving deals out there for accommodation, activities and transport which will enable you to explore the country’s main attractions.
Aoife McGee Freelance writer Aoife moved to Sydney from her native Ireland several years ago, and is loving the lifestyle. “There are just too many fantastic places to write about,” says Aoife, who has written for publications including Sydney’s Sunday Telegraph, TNT Magazine and The Irish Echo. Aoife explores Australia’s iconic Bondi Beach this issue (p52), where she meets the lifeguards who have become TV stars, and finds out why there’s a lot more to do here besides sunbathing!
