As global warmin g increases we are more likel y to suffer long droughts in the su mmer months, especially in the South and East of the UK. M any millions of people in the d eveloping world do not have access to clean drinking w ater. In fact, 450 million peop le today face water shortages, but people in rich countries a re wasting it. We are used to tu rning on the tap and having fr esh, running water whenever we want it. Each person needs 80 litres of water per day for health and hygiene. The average Am erican uses 500 litres per da y.

Less and less water is safe to drink, unless it is chemically treated because it has been polluted by oil spills, sewage, industrial waste and fertilizers. We need to start saving every drop in our taps, right now. If we used less we could stop damaging the environment and save money.
