At

INCLINE PRESS we make books that are worth keeping.

They are hand made using archival quality materials, printed with metal type and 19th-century machinery. We only work on books that interest us personally, and we have broad interests, especially around 20th-century arts, crafts, and popular culture.

Each book we publish is a deliberately designed craft object, as thoughfully made as a hand-turned bowl or a hand-woven rug. Just as a weaver must choose yarns, colourways, and pattern before beginning to weave, so we select the typefaces, the illustrations, the cloth and paper for book and binding, all of which is intended to complement the text that has first engaged us. And so, by virtue of its bibliosity, each book becomes more than the simple sum of its parts —with all the work done by hand, publishing for us is a process rather than an event. Complex books take time to complete, and we usually publish

four or five books each year. Every book gets a printed

prospectus, and we put details on our web site.
