PETER MANDLER teaches modern cultural history at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He is writing a book entitled Return from the Natives: How Margaret Mead Won the Second World War and Lost the Cold War.

MICHAEL HULSE’s latest publications are a book of poems, The Secret History (Arc), and a translation of Rilke’s The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge (Penguin Classics), both 2009.

HUGH BICHENO is an ex-intelligence officer, kidnap and ransom negotiator, and author of books on conflict that explain both sides of the hill.

SIMON BLACKBURN is the Bertrand Russell Professor of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of Trinity College. His recent books include Plato’s Republic and The Big Questions of Philosophy.

IAIN MCGILCHRIST is a former Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, and Consultant Psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital. His book The Master and his Emissary: The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World came out in paperback in August.

LEANDA DE LISLE’s latest book is The Sisters Who Would be Queen: The Tragedy of Mary, Katherine & Lady Jane Grey (HarperPress).

JEREMY LEWIS’s latest book is Shades of Greene: One Generation of an English Family (Jonathan Cape).
