As some readers may already know, my father and fellow editor Patrick Henshaw died on 31st May 2010, just a few weeks after the last Miniature Railway was printed. It was Patrick’s knowledge and enthusiasm for miniature railways that helped launch Miniature Railway back in 2006. The following year, Patrick suffered a hip injury, which made line visits more difficult, but his large photo collection and encyclopedic knowledge remained enormously useful. He was also a frequent contributor to the magazine in his own right, and this issue contains his last letter, and a short article. We’ve also put together a representative selection of his photographs, which I hope you’ll enjoy. What was his favourite line? Eastleigh Lakeside? Or perhaps the Royal Victoria? The truth is, he loved all miniature railways, from the humblest seaside circuit to the likes of the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch, a line he’d known almost since it was built. His guiding hand will be much missed here at Miniature Railway, but his photographs and enthusiasm will live on. PATRICK HENSHAW 1927-2010
