Two names pop up several times in this issue. David Curwen is one of the great miniature locomotive builders, and you’ll find a review of his autobiography on page 5,numerous references to his locos, and strangely,we think we have one of his signals in our back garden...John Southern is the miniature enthusiast from Cornwall who converted his farm into one of the finest miniature railways ever built, and went on to commission the biggest and most powerful 7 1 / 4 " steam engine in the world to run on it.Nearly forty years later, the railway is being scaled back, but the Dobwalls story is by no means over.We dedicate this issue to David,John, and engineers and visionaries everywhere!
