The clocks have gone forward, daffodils are blooming and the days are getting warmer – it can only mean one thing: spring has well and truly sprung. This month, we are also getting two four-day weekends courtesy of Easter and the Royal Wedding. So, with all that great natural light around, and all this spare time, there is no excuse for not making inroads into the painting mountain, is there?

Spring is also traditionally the start of the military campaigning season so what better time to dabble in a new period or start building a new army? As ever, you will find plenty of inspiration in these pages for wargaming every period from Ancient to Modern, both familiar and obscure.

Spring also means the show season is now in full swing with Salute, Fisticuffs, Battlegroup North, Legionary, Carronade and Triples all squeezed into the next few weeks. MWwill be at Triples in Sheffield and our good friends John Treadaway and crew will be there too with a Hammer’sSlammersgame for all of you who want to give the rules a try.
