NEW YORK DESIGN WEEK New York Design Week 2007 kicks off with the Brooklyn Designs show on 11-13 May at three locations, with striking rugs designs from Amy Helfand and Asha Carpets. Hot on its heels is the 19th annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center (19-22 May): ICFF is North America's singular showcase for contemporary design and should not be missed. Watch out for Liora Manné’s patented lamontageflooring, and the experimental designs of Loophouse and Chichi Cavalcanti (both London based). Spanish designer Nani Marquina has been collaborating with fellow designers in recent years with unusual textural results – it will be interesting to see her latest partnership. Plus, keep an eye out for the well-regarded Warp & Weft, plus fellow newcomer to the fair, Emma Gardner Design. www.brooklyndesigns.net www.icff.com
