andrew lambIrth writes about 93-year-old landscape artist Roland Collins on page 46. Lambirth is a curator and art critic who has written for a variety of publications including the Sunday Times, ModernPaintersand RA, the Royal Academy magazine. His many books include monographs on Craigie Aitchison, Nigel Hall, Maggi Hambling, Roger Hilton, John Hoyland, David Inshaw and Margaret Mellis.
PHILIP PURSER was born just five minutes from Broadway (Letchworth Garden City, not New York). He was a journalist on the DailyMailand then the News Chronicle, but when the Chronicle was scrapped he vowed never to be on anyone’s staff again, and became a freelancer, reviewing television for the SundayTelegraphfor 26 years. See page 76 for his review of a box set of nine Ken Loach films made for the BBC between 1965 and 1977.
ed howker is a journalist, author and troublemaker. He co-wrote JiltedGeneration:HowBritain HasBankruptedItsYouthin 2010, produces current affairs investigations for Channel 4 Dispatchesand writes regularly for national newspapers and magazines including the Spectator, the Guardianand Prospect.
