PHOTOGRAPHER’S NOTES

BEST SHOOTING TIMES

BEST SHOOTING TIMES From approximately 14.00 until late afternoon, or until the sun falls behind the hills to the west (depending on the time of year). TRAFFIC NOTES A busy line, mainly TPE 185s, but some Class 170s, which are interspersed with the local stopping service (150/142s). Also a daily fl ow of ‘binliners’ hauled by Freightliner 66s. EQUIPMENT AND EXPOSURE DETAILS Nikon D200, 1/200 @ f5.6 ISO200. SAYS TOM: “Plenty of scope for a number of different permutations depending on your preference. The shot is for westbound trains, but there are plenty of them! Some of the trees will obscure the view in the summer – my preferred time is autumn, when there’s a great display of colours.”
