The 99% You can clear the tents and move the protestors along but the Occupy Movement is going nowhere. With the same message that Resurgence has been ‘voicing’ for 45 years, these are ideas whose time has come and according to environment campaigner Vandana Shiva, Occupy simply reminds us all how Indigenous Cultures have practiced democracy throughout histor y. “This is what Mahatma Ghandi called swaraj”

Songlines of Freedom As West Papua declares its own Independence Day, Jay Griffiths explores the courage of that neglected country’s Freedom Fighters – men, women and children – and discovers that in West Papua, to sing is also a political act. Written with poetry and compassion, this is a deeply moving piece that challenges the West to stop ignoring the plight of these people. “Songs harmonise people with the environment; there is no divide”
Jay Griffiths
