So while Shelby SuperCars’ Ultimate Aero TT was no slouch, it’s been overshadowed in the battle to be the fastest car on Earth by the mighty Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. And that just won’t do. SSC’s answer is the Tuatara. And with a claimed top whack of 275mph, this bonkers supercar aims to make the Veyron look like an asthmatic tortoise with a thyroid problem. Underneath the spaceship-style carbon fibre shell is a twin-turbo 7-litre V8, which would probably be enough to launch the Tuatara into orbit if you turned it on its end. And nobody will forget the first car in space.
