It was a pleasure to meet some of you at the Swanage Railway’s Diesel Gala on May 7-9, to find out that you think of the new-look magazine and the various changes that have taken place since the editorial change. Both Ryan and I were pleased to hear that most of the ‘tweaks’ we’ve made were welcomed in the main, and we were given useful feedback as to what should feature in future issues. I’m always happy to get feedback, both good and bad, because its the only way I can get the content right is by the response I receive, so please keep your comments coming!
As well as discussing content, we were also offered a number of possible features and photographs for forthcoming magazines - it still surprises me how many of you out there have taken superb photos of the heritage scene. Don’t hide your light under a bushel - do send your pictures in! After all, I bet when you took them you never expected that they would possibly feature in a ‘mainstream’ magazine - and you’d get paid! I’m particularly looking for early/pilot scheme diesel and electric photographs, but as they say, anything goes!’ Email or post them in, you never know!
Following last month’s ‘Deltic’ dedicated issue, Tony Murphy recorded three of the class looking forlorn at an ‘80s open day at Doncaster Works. There’s a culpable feeling that their end is in sight. Talking of which, the discussion regarding scrapping dates goes on - so far the number in favour exceeds that of those against - so they will stay for the time being!
I hope you enjoy reading this month’s issue. If you like what you see and don’t buy the magazine regularly, take a look at the superb subscription offer on page 18, how can you resist?
