TOP: It’s high summer on the North Wales coast as 40 036 powers along at the head of a Manchester to Bangor service on the 26th August 1981.
CENTRE: A summer Saturday Llandudno to York train leaves the Welsh resort on 29th August 1981 behind 40 047. Standing in the carriage sidings is a two-coach DMU and a 47 with the empty stock for a train to London Euston.
LOWER: A Holyhead to Euston express rolls into Bangor behind 47 462, in the late morning of 24th August 1981. TOP: A warm afternoon after Llanfairfechan sees a two-coach Metro-Cammell DMU pull in on a local from Holyhead to Llandudno Junction. The power car No. 51178 is in the all-over blue livery, whilst the driving trailer is in the shortlived white with a blue stripe livery.
CENTRE : Llandudno station is seen on the afternoon of Sunday 23rd August 1981, with 40 138 at the head of a Manchester Victoria train. Over on the left are the carriages of an excursion from Birmingham that had been brought in by 47 113.
LOWER: A three-car BRCW DMU waits departure from Llandudno on a Blaenau Ffestiniog working. The leading power car is 50527.
